So, I started hanging around churches, for their prettiness and beauty, bliss is so quickly addictive…
And then I wanted to remember them, so I got out an old camera and started photographing them…
Then I discovered Instagram, and the church lovers loving life there, and I thought ‘cool’…
Then I thought ‘A better camera, more modern, better zoom, better things, oh boy, microelectronics… ’ so I bought one. And learnt to photograph better…
So I posted more pictures on Instagram, the only person doing Devon churches regularly…
Then I fell in love with Instagram, and more importantly lots of folk fell in love with my photos of Devon’s churches. They had hardly considered them, and never realised just how much treasure and beauty there is down here…
And instagram is such a nice place, no grandstanding, no nastiness, lots of respect and kindness, a fair number of grins and belly laughs too. At least in our hood…
So things kind of snowballed from there. I got an even better camera (oh boy, more microelectronics, whooeee!), taught myself to take even better photos, read a lot, and realised just how special and unique our churches here in Devon are…
Then I started writing, found a voice (that was fun too) and now, well, here is the website…
Oh, and along the way I became a Christian, which still gobsmacks me every day. Even got myself confirmed… a choice that constantly fills me with wonder.
But basically after all that…
… I’m just a boy… standing in front of a church… asking it to love me…
And you know what? The darling always says yes.
Life can be so full of awesome sometimes.
